Things You'll Need:
- inexpensive brown hooded sweatshirt
- matching brown sweatpants
- brown felt
- cardboard
- yarn for the mane and tail
- hot glue gun
- scissors
-
Step 1
Draw on a piece of scrap paper to get a pattern for the horse ears. Once you have the pattern made cut 4 ears out of felt and 2 of cardboard. To give each ear shape crease the cardboard down the middle.
-
Step 2
Hot glue the felt over the cardboard, front and back. Now try the hooded sweatshirt on the child and see where the ears should be placed. Keep in mind that you want the mane between the ears. Mark the placement of the ears with a pin or washable marker. Take the sweatshirt off the child and then hot glue the ears on where you marked.
-
Step 3
Now you will cut a lot of 6 inch pieces of yarn. Hot glue these between the ears and down the back of the hood for the mane. You can use different contrasting colors for the mane and tail or just use all the same color.
-
Step 4
For the tail you can hot glue it on or use a safety pin to pin it on. It is not the comfortable to sit on so I would pin it on that way it can be removed for car rides and such. Decide on the length that you want the tail to be and double that. So if you want the tail to end up being 24 inches cut 48 inch strands of yarn. Cut a lot of yarn doubled length to your desired thickness. Lay all of your yarn for the tail out, fold it in half and take a 6 inch piece to tie it together at the fold. Tie it tight. Now you have your tail, you can braid it and put a cute bow on it or leave it as is. Hot glue or safety pin it in place.
