How to Face Your Fear of Public Speaking
Many people, from children to adults, find themselves in the position of having to speak in public. Whether it is for a small group or large crowd, business, social, educational or other event, it is not uncommon to have a fear of public speaking and feel nervous, self-conscious or even ill. With some practice and tips, people can face their fear of public speaking and work to overcome it, to transform themselves into informative, confident and even entertaining speakers.

Practice regularly to prepare yourself for public speaking. Rehearse out loud, over and over, what you plan to say in your speech until you begin to feel confident.

Read over all of your speech material to ensure you know what you are talking about and know it well.

Practice your speech with a group of friends. Invite them over and stand in front of them while you give your speech.

Find a group, such as Toastmasters, where you can learn more about public speaking and build up your confidence through practice in front of others.

Relax when it comes time to speak in public. Confidently address the audience and start going through your material, speaking to those in attendance just as you would a group of your closest friends. Keep your message simple, stay focused and understand that your listeners want you to succeed.
