How to Fix a Shower Tension Rod
Shower tension rods are a convenient way to hang a shower curtain. No drilling of holes in the ceramic are needed to install these rods. However, sometimes the spring inside a tension rod will go bad. Before you purchase another tension rod to replace it, you can repair it rather quickly. Things You'll Need
- Tape measure
- Colored tape
- Drill
- 1/8-inch drill bit
- Screwdriver
- Two stainless steel screws

Remove the tension rod and remove the shower curtain from it.

Measure the width of the shower where the tension rod is to be installed. Measure twice and add 1/8-inch to the measurement. Stretch the shower rod to the measurement taken and mark with tape where the the smaller portion goes inside the larger portion.

Drill two pilot holes through the shower rod using a 1/8-inch drill bit. Make sure that the tape is lined up so that the shower rod is the correct length.

Screw in two 1/4-inch self tapping stainless steel screws with a screwdriver. You want to use stainless steel screws because they will not rust.

Place the shower curtain back on the shower rod. Angle the shower rod in the shower opening and position it into place.
