How to Become a Satellite Contractor for DISH Network and DirecTV

You can be an installer for the companies, or become an independent contractor.

DirecTV and DISH Network are the two leading satellite broadcast providers in the United States. Supplying these services requires the installation of a complete satellite system. Installing a satellite setup includes putting in a satellite dish (antenna), running the necessary wires and hooking up a satellite receiver to a television. Satellite contractors (satellite installers or satellite technicians) can get a job directly with the companies or work for local retailers supplying DirecTV or DISH Network services to customers.

How to Become a DirecTV Network Satellite Contractor

1. Access the DirecTV online application form. Decide if you want to be a satellite technician working for DirecTV or for a retailer in the company network.

2. Fill in the information requested including name, email, phone and address. Type “satellite contractor” (satellite installer or satellite technician) in the box under “Type of Position You’re Interested In:” found under your address.

3. Add any relevant details (experience, skills or certifications) in the box “Additional Information.” State the type of DirecTV connection you prefer (DirecTV employee or DirecTV network worker). Click “Send Message” to complete.

How to Become a DISH Network Satellite Contractor

1. Open DISH Network jobs page. Click on “Search for Jobs” located on the upper left side under "Highlights."

2. Click on “Satellite TV Installer/Technician” under Job Titles or “Installation--Maint--Repair” under Job Type to get access to all job locations. Notice the number in the parentheses listed. It is the number of jobs offered.

3. Narrow your selection to specific locations to find DISH Network satellite contractor jobs in your area. Select your state from the list under “Locations” and then click “Search for Jobs” to see a complete listing of available jobs.

4. Read the information shown, including job description, education and experience along with skills and qualifications needed for the job. Click on the red “Apply Now” button.

5. Go over the more detailed requirements and additional information about the job to see if you qualify for it. Click on the "Apply Now” button. Register with DISH Network iRecruitment to create a resume and to apply to become a satellite contractor. Follow the directions supplied to complete this process and submit your finished application.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also work as a satellite contractor for DISH Network or DirecTV through a local satellite retailer. Contact any of the businesses in your area that supply satellite service. You would be working independently of the two companies and not receive benefits or compensation from either.

• Even though many of the satellite contractor jobs do not require previous work experience or specific satellite installation training, if you have any of these additional skills or knowledge, mention this when applying.
