Many people start the day with a fresh, hot cup of coffee. Imagine the dismay, however, if your glass carafe becomes chipped or even broken. Most coffeemaker manufacturers realize that mishaps can happen and make it possible to replace a glass carafe without purchasing a new coffeemaker. If you cannot find a carafe from the manufacturer, replace it with a universal carafe designed to work with your specific coffeemaker. Change a glass coffee carafe with a new one to continue using your coffeemaker.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Owner's manual

    Finding a Replacement

  1. Step 1

Find the exact model name and number on the bottom or side of the coffeemaker. Write this number down for reference.

  2. Step 2

Consult the owner's manual if available. Often there is a contact number for customer service. In the absence of a manual, find the manufacturer's website and find a customer service web page.

  3. Step 3

Browse through the manufacturer's website to see if there is a catalog of replacement parts available for purchase. If there is, match up the model name and number and look to see if there is a replacement carafe made for your specific coffee maker.

  4. Step 4

Order the carafe online if you find one.

  5. Step 5

Contact the manufacturer's customer service department by telephone if the website does not offer a replacement carafe. Provide the model name and number to the representative to order the correct carafe.

  6. Universal Replacement Carafe

  7. Step 1

Visit medelcoinc.com (see Resources) and click the "Fits List" tab at the top of the home page.

  8. Step 2

Browse down through the list of coffeemakers and find the name and model number of your coffeemaker. Write down the replacement carafe number when you find it.

  9. Step 3

Click the "Coffee and Tea Making Accessories" tab at the top of the home page. Click "Replacement Carafes" and then "Coffee" to navigate to the product list available. Find the replacement carafe that you located in Step 2 and place it in your shopping cart for purchase.

  10. Step 4

Proceed through the checkout process to purchase the replacement carafe. When this carafe is delivered, it should fit into your coffee maker as a suitable replacement. Contact customer support through the Medelco website if you have problems with your product.

Tips & Warnings
  • Product warranties do not typically cover glass carafes; however, you should inquire about a free replacement if your coffeemaker is still under warranty.
  • Do not attempt to use a coffeemaker with a chipped or broken carafe. Severe burns may result. Do not attempt to use a coffeemaker with a different carafe than the one specifically designed for your coffeemaker. Severe burns may result.
