Things You'll Need:
- Bicycle rack
- Bicycle
- Screwdriver

Step 1
Make sure you know the type of bicycle rack you have and how it connects to the bike. Most bicycle racks have lower supports that connect to the bike's rear wheel near the sprockets, and they also connect to the frame below the seat. Others are designed to connect underneath the seat only; proceed to Step 4 if this is the case.
-
Step 2
Connect the rack onto the rear wheels if it does have the lower supports. The bicycle's frame usually has threaded inserts near the rear gears, and the rack will have similar inserts. Screw the rack to the frame using these holes and the rack's included screws. If your bike doesn't have these holes, balance the ends of the rack supports on the nuts attaching the gears to the frame.
-
Step 3
Attach the rack to the frame directly behind the seat and seat rod. Remove the locking bolt that tightens the seat rod channel and extend the two rods at the front end of the rack so their holes line up with the holes for the locking bolt. Re-insert the bolt so it goes through the holes for the channel and rods and tighten the bolt; you will need to re-adjust the seat.
-
Step 4
Use the seat rod to mount a rack that doesn't have lower supports; this type will have a channel for the seat rod at the front end. Lift the seat and rod out of the channel by loosening the locking bolt and slide the rod into the rack's channel. Place the rod back within the channel and re-tighten the bolt.
-
Step 5
Adjust the positioning of either rack as needed. For a rack with lower supports, pull it back until the base of the rack is parallel to the ground. For a rack without supports, slide the rack up or down along the seat rod until it is at the height you need.
