Go to Payscale.com. This site is a little better than most in my opinion because it actually takes you through a series of questions to determine if you are selecting the right job title. It does take about ten minutes to go through the interview, but it is well worth it as it provides you with not only the salary range for jobs, but actual surveys from people who have the exact same job title.

Go to jobnob.com. This site is younger than the rest and does not include salary and compensation information for smaller metropolitan areas. However, if you live in one of the major metropolitan areas or cities, you should definitely check this website out.

Look in the Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook. This publication is available for free on the Department of Labor website and is updated yearly. Although it won't give you salary information for your specific situation, it will give you salary ranges for jobs that you can compare your own salary or compensation to.
