When you are ready to file your state taxes in Louisiana, you have several options. You can file them the old-fashion way by filling out paper forms or pay a tax preparer to do it for you or file online. If you choose to file online, you can bypass all of the tax preparation sites that charge a fee.The Louisiana Department of Revenue has created a web site that allows you to file your state taxes online for free.

Instructions

1. Visit the Louisiana Department of Revenue's web site .

2. Click "File and Pay Online Now" on the homepage. The link is located beneath the section named "For Individuals."

3. Click "Continue."

4. Click on the tax year for which you will be filing a return.

5. Click "Create User Account" and follow the instructions to register. If you have already registered, sign in with your existing account information. Follow the prompts to input your tax information and file your state taxes.
