How to Make a Presentation Folder

How to Make a Presentation Folder thumbnail
Dress up a plain folder

Make a presentation folder that stands out from the crowd. Place information, menus or event programs inside the folders. A handmade folder stands out at charity events or parties and receptions. Also use them for samples and portfolios of your work if you are in a creative field or to arrange samples at a fair or festival booth. Use a standard presentation folder as the base for a more creative one.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a plain paper presentation folder with two pockets---one on each side. Vertical or envelope pockets are preferred. Choose a color that complements your fabric choice.

    • 2

Cut a sheet of fabric the same size as the folder when it is laid flat, approximately 18 by 12 inches. Fold the folder out flat with the covers facing up.

    • 3

Apply a thin coat of decoupage glue on the cover and then smooth the fabric in place. Rub out any bubbles with your fingertips.

    • 4

Apply decoupage glue to the back of the decorative paper sheet. Slide this into the pockets on either side and smooth in place. Crease in the center fold with a bone folder or the handle of a spoon.

    • 5

Cut a 4 by 2-inch rectangle from matching paper with decorative edge scissors. Center on one of the pockets. Glue the bottom and sides of the paper down to make a small pocket for business cards.

    • 6

Attach a decorative brad from a scrapbooking store in the center of the right hand edge of the front cover. Cut a 4-inch length of ribbon or cording. Poke a hole through the back cover that lines up with the brad on front. Tie the cord or ribbon through the hole. Close the folder by wrapping the ribbon or cord around the brad three to five times.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cut the open edges of the pockets with decorative edge scissors. Use decoupage glue to attach a picture or logo to the front cover.
