How to Convert a Plasma RGB Signal to VGA

RGB is the common color wheel of electronic devices, such as plasma televisions. RGB (red, green, blue) is used to create all other colors. VGA, also know as Video Graphics Array, is how analog computer monitors plug into the rest of the computer. VGA is not commonly used anymore, but there is a way to convert the plasma RGB color signals into VGA.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an RGB to VGA converter box. These are also known as PC to video converters, because PCs are generally the only devices that use VGA signals. These are hard to find at retail outlets and probably will need to be purchased online. A link in "Resources" has multiple such converts listed for sale.

    • 2

Determine if you want the signal of the plasma television to be displayed on the VGA device (such as a computer monitor) or if you want the content of the VGA device to be shown on the plasma television.

    • 3

Plug the RCA cables from the "Out" ports of the plasma television into the "In" port on the converter box (if you want the content of the plasma to be on the monitor). Or, plug the RCA cables into an "In" port on the television and insert the other ends into the "Out" port of the converter (if you want the content of the monitor to be placed on the television).

    • 4

Plug the monitor's cable into the "In" port for the information to be shown on the monitor or the "Out" port if you want the content to be shown on the plasma television.

    • 5

Turn on the devices and the RGB signal is ready to be converted to VGA---or vice versa.
