Stress can really get to you during the work day. Don't allow it to!

Our careers are filled with joy and accomplishments. However, a lot of times we tend to forget that and let the stress get to us.

So if you would like a stress-free day at work follow these tips and you will see your productivity and satisfaction soar.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Don't take things personally. So that lest presentation you spent hours working on has not impressed the boss? Don't take it personally. It is not your fault, and you know you have done the absolute best.

  2. Step 2

Organize and prioroitize your workload. Many times our workload seems enormous, and sometimes it is hard to cope. Set yourself realistic deadlines and deal with each job at a time. It helps to make a list of everything that you need to get done each week, and by when you would like it accomplished. Once it is done, cross it off your list. The act of crossing the item off your lost will make you feel relieved and less stressed.

  3. Step 3

Stop procrastinating. Most people do not work better under pressure, and you will just be setting yourself up for a headache. Do not delay doing a presentation, or writing a report. They will not disappear just because you managed to ignore them for a while. In fact, they will snowball into somehting much bigger.

  4. Step 4

Stop trying to control your team. Learn to manage your colleagues, and if you know a colleague is prone to delivering work late, set them up with calendar reminders so they know that things are expected on time. But do not think that you are to blame for their mistakes.

  5. Step 5

Avoid multitasking. Pay attention to the task at hand, and then dedicate yourself to the next task once the first one is done. This way, you get to systematically cross things off your list, and don't run the risk of starting a project but not finishing it.

  6. Step 6

Avoid difficult people. When interaction is necessary, preempt any problems by being completely prepared. If you have a boss that never agrees with you and likes playing devil's advocate, be prepared with answers to questions that you think they are most likely to ask. This avoids them grilling you and you having to do research afterwards.

  7. Step 7

Try and take a lunch break away from your desk as often as possible. Desk lunches are becoming ever more popular. However, if you make an effort to spend even 15 minutes away from your desk, you will be giving yourself a much deserved break and time to think aboout more pleasant and less stressful things.
