Sharpen a pocket knife.
Sharpen a pocket knife.

Pocket knifes are useful for slicing wire, ropes and various other tasks. A dull blade can slip during use, leading to injury. Using a ceramic stick to sharpen the blade will allow for precise slicing. This will protect you from sliding the blade off the project and accidently cutting yourself. The blue ceramic stick is coarse while the white stick is finer.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a kitchen or coffee table. Place the ceramic stick at a 45-degree angle on the table. Hold firmly with the flat side of the stick in front of you.

  2. Step 2

Open the pocket knife to expose the blade. Hold the knife at approximately a 10-degree angle. Touch the ceramic stick with the edge of the knife.

  3. Step 3

Apply pressure to the pocket knife. Gradually pull downward on the stick. Repeat the sharpening method 20 times. Then turn the knife over and repeat another 20 times.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a steady surface when sharpening the blade.
  • Sharpening a knife is extremely dangerous. Take your time and use a proper technique slowly and cautiously. Sharpen the knife away from children and pets in case it slips from your grasp.
