Whether you're an author, a businessperson, or even a famous actress, sometimes you need to set up a press conference to share new information with the world. One way to do this in a relatively easy fashion is by setting up an online web press conference. One advantage about an online web press conference versus a regular one, is you can control the number of people who will be there. Another advantage is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home in your pajamas if you want to as opposed to having to get dressed up so you look your best for the cameras and the public.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to vyew.com and sign up for an account. (It's a good choice because it is free and does not require a download.)

  2. Step 2

Click on the button that says "Go to my Vyewbook" or something similar. This will open the Vyew interface. After it loads, type in a user name for yourself.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "My Home" tab. This will allow you to both upload content, and create a new Vyewbook/start a meeting.

  4. Step 4

Click on "Create New VyewBook/Start a Meeting Now" button on the far left hand side. Then click the down arrow next to the book icon in the My VyewBooks window. Then click on "Rename Book." Name the book/meeting whatever you would like to.

  5. Step 5

Click on the "Upload Content" button on the far left to upload your photos and documents to your VyewBook that you want to make accessible to those attending your online web press conference.

  6. Step 6

In the My VyewBooks window click on "Invite People." This will open a new window where you can type in all the e-mail addresses of those you would like to invite to your online web press conference, and an invitation message.

  7. Step 7

Click on the "Schedule a Meeting" button on the far left hand side. Click on the circle on the far left that allows you to fill in the date, time and for how long the meeting will be, and then fill in all the information.

  8. Step 8

Click on the VyewBook that contains the content that you just uploaded just beneath the information about the time, date and how long the meeting is. Click on "Next."

  9. Step 9

Click on either, "Open to Anyone with the URL," or "Open Only to the Following People." With the second option it gives you an e-mail window where you can e-mail all those you want to be at your meeting. Fill in the e-mail info if you select the second option. Click on "Next."

  10. Step 10

Fill in your first and last name on the little window that pops up. This will allow those who will be attending to know who called the online web press conference.

  11. Step 11

Select either "Do Not Allow Viewers to Navigate Pages on Their Own," or "Allow Viewers to Navigate on Their Own." The first means those attending have to follow you as you show the documents you downloaded, the second means they can look at their leisure.

  12. Step 12

Select the conference call number if you want attendees to be able to talk to each other and you during your online web press conference, or if you don't want them to have that option select "None."

  13. Step 13

Click on "Finish." You have now set up your first online web press conference.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of using a conference call number to talk to your attendees, consider instead using the webcam or chat room functions to the left. Just click on "Push to Talk" to use the webcam, or type in the small blank area under the Chat window to chat with attendees.
  • Be aware that you can only have five people chatting one at a time via the webcam function.
