Playing tennis video games can be a way for a newcomer to the sport to learn its rules and points system. If you're not an avid tennis fan, you may not be interested in buying a console or computer tennis video game. Many tennis games found on the Internet are simple, easy to learn and can be entertaining and instructional. They're also free for you to play as often as you like.

Things You'll Need:

  • High-speed Internet
  1. Step 1

Go to the Tennis Game website on Flash Arcade (see Resources). In this free tennis game, you can change the settings of both your player and the computer opponent to make your match more competitive. You also have the option of playing in a tournament featuring prominent women's tennis players such as Mary Pierce or Steffi Graf.

  2. Step 2

Try the Wimbledon Centre Court game (see Resources). In this free online tennis game, you face off against a computer opponent in a two-set match. You will have the option of playing at the junior, amateur or professional level. Using the mouse to control your player can be a bit challenging at first, so it's recommend to begin at the junior level until you get used to the game play.

  3. Step 3

Visit the Tennis Champions web page (see Resources). This tennis game consists of a three-match tournament. The first player to win three games wins the match. At the end of the tournament, you will have a chance to submit your score (even if you didn't win the tournament). You do not need to register to submit a score.

  4. Step 4

Play Match Point on Candystand (http://www.candystand.com/play/match-point-tennis#). Much like Tennis Champions, you will compete in a three-match tournament in this free online tennis game. Unlike Tennis Champions, however, you can play as either a male or female in Match Point. You will also have to create a free account on Candystand to save and submit your score.
