How to Clean an HP Ink Cartridge
When Hewlett Packard (HP) printers sit dormant for an extended period of time, issues can arise with the device's ink cartridges. One such issue is when the ink on the printer head dries. This will prevent new ink from being used and result in lightly colored or streaky documents. Luckily, it doesn't take much time or effort to clean the HP ink cartridge and correct this issue.

Tips & Warnings
Do not use an excessive amount of water when cleaning the printer head. You do not want the water to penetrate the cartridge. It will remain inside, which can cause mold issues, as well as dilute the ink. This is also an important reason to why you should thoroughly dry off the printer head when you have finished cleaning it.
