How to Increase Bandwidth for a DSL Modem

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) like to cut cost by limiting the default amount of bandwidth distributed to users. This is normal procedure, as most users do not require a lot of bandwidth. However, you can change some connection settings, which may increase your overall bandwidth.

      Click the "Start" button in the taskbar. Select the "Run" button.

      Input "gpedit.msc" (without the quotes) and click the "OK" button.

      Select Administrative Templates. Go to "Network" and select "Qos Packet Schedule".

      Click "Limit Reservable Bandwidth". Click the "Enable" button.

      Change the properties number from 20 to 0. Click "OK".

      Restart your computer and your DSL modem. You should see a noticeable increase in available bandwidth.

    The point is valid, but the reason is false. The QOS packet scheduler is part of the XP os and has nothing to do with the DLS provider. This scheduler makes sure that all the PC's in the local network get a fair split of the internet speed.
