This aricle explains how to write a vehicle ad to sell your car.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • General vehicle information
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to determine when writing a vehicle ad is where you want your add to be viewed. For example, if you want to sell your car locally, you would pick up a local news paper and follow the instructions they provided for listing your vehicle. If you want your vehicle ad to reach more potential buyers you would list your vehicle for sale on internet web sites or car forums.

  2. Step 2

The next step is to gather general information about your vehicle. The following should be the minimum for your vehicle ad...
    1. Vehicle Year (Example- 1999)
    2. Vehicle Make (Example- Ford)
    3. Vehicle Model (Example- Focus)
    4. Vehicle Color (Example-Red)
    5. Vehicle Mileage (Example- 35,987mi)
    6. Vehicle Condition (Example-Excellent Condition)
    7. Vehicle Features (Example- PW, ABS, See step 3 for Acronyms.)
    8. Vehicle Price (Example- $9,900OBO)
    9. Contact Information (Name and Phone Number)

This should be the minimum information included. If you leave any of this information out such as the asking price, people may avoid calling you. The same goes for mileage. If you list your vehicle for a cheap price and don't include the mileage, some people may assume that it is a high mileage vehicle and avoid calling.

  3. Step 3

There are some acronyms for making your vehicle ad.
    1. P/W- Power Windows
    2. P/L- Power Locks
    3. P/S- Power steering
    4. ABS- Anti-lock braking system
    5. SRS- Supplemental Restraint System (Air Bags)
    6. Tilt- Equipped with tilting steering wheel
    7. AT- Automatic Transmission
    8. MT- Manual Transmission
    9. 2DR- Two Doors
    10. 4DR- Four Doors
    11. A/C- Air Conditioning
    12. OBO- Or Best Offer used with asking price

  4. Step 4

Now that you have gathered all of your vehicle information, combine it together to make your vehicle ad. When you have all your information compiled into your ad, place it in the area's you've selected in step on such as your local news paper. Now you have made your Vehicle ad!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to set your asking price above what you expect for your vehicle. Many people will try to talk you down in price. Set your asking price about $500 above what you expect to allow room for negotiation.
