How to Connect HD Satellite
HD (High Definition) TVs give off an improved image resolution over standard definition TVs. In fact, some HDTVs can have up to three times the lines of resolution of standard definition TVs. It makes sense to take advantage of the increase in picture quality by ordering an HD package from a satellite provider. However, the connection between the receiver and the TV will then be slightly different than it was before, so read on to learn how to connect an HDTV to a satellite provider.

1
Order an HD package from your satellite provider. Most likely they will need to exchange the receiver you are currently using with an HD receiver. If this is necessary, set up a date and a time for when they can bring the new equipment out.
-
2
Connect the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of the satellite receiver. Plug the other end of the cable into one of the available HDMI ports of the TV.
-
-
3
Power on the receiver and the TV. Press the "HDMI" button on the TV remote to adjust the picture to the port that contains the connection between the TV and the receiver.
-
4
Press the "Menu" button on the satellite receiver's remote. Navigate until you find "Options," then "Aspect Ratio." Adjust the aspect ration so it is in line with your TV (either 720 or 1080). Click "OK" and the image resolution will be properly adjusted. This will complete the HD satellite connection.

I can appreciate the effort you took in making this "How to". I cannot however standby the information you provided. This is the 2nd article you've posted with incorrect information. I'll ignore the typos and stick to the info. ------------> This needs to be expanded and revised on many levels. -------------> Aspect ratio refers to screen format (typically either 16:9 or 4:3) -------> Resolution is what you are referring to in step 4. (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p are the options) HD refers to the 720 and above with the i & p options used for tvs that recommend either the interlaced or progressive scan as it's preferred method. ---------> If you have a TV that doesn't have an HDMI connection or no available ports, it is perfectly acceptable to use component cables to pass your HD image to your TV.
