Instructions

    • 1

Strands will be numbered from left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Tie off the ends of your braiding material and secure the tied ends to a nail or something you can pull against as you braid. With the three middle strands, start off by making one three strand braid by passing the four strand over the three stand and the two strand over the four strand (which becomes the new two strand).

    • 2

Hold the strands so that there are two strands in the left hand (number 1 and the old number 4 strands) and the other three in the right hand.

    • 3

The strands are renumbered from left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Take the new number 5 strand and go under the new number 4 strand and over the new number three strand. Three strands are in the left hand and two strands are in the right hand.

    • 4

      Renumber from left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Take number one and pass it under number 2 and over number 3.

Repeat from stem #2 until you are finished braiding.
