1
Cut a piece of wrapping paper large enough to cover the bottom of the box and three inches higher than the desired height of the gift bag. Lay out the piece of wrapping paper on a flat surface and fold down the top 3 inches to make a crease.
-
2
Wrap the paper around the outside of the box with the 3-inch crease at the top. Where the edges meet around the box, fold it in about 1/2 inch and secure using double-sided tape. Lay the box on its side and fold in the bottom edges as if wrapping a present, and secure with double-sided tape. Only tape the paper to itself and not to the box as the box is only used as a guide and will be removed.

3
Gently remove the wrapped paper from the box; you should now be left with a bag the size of the box. Use your hole punch to punch four holes in the top of the bag, about an inch from the top; two holes on each side. If you are decorating a solid-colored bag, you may do so now with rubber stamps, stickers, glue and glitter, rhinestones or other embellishments.

4
Cut two similarly-sized pieces of cording to use for the handle. Insert one cording through one hole, knot it on the inside of the bag and repeat for the other end of the bag. Repeat this process for the other piece of cording.

5
Cut a piece of cardboard that will fit in the bottom-inside of the bag. Cover it with wrapping paper and tape to secure. Place the cardboard inside the bottom of the bag.
