Pressure wash your shed!
Pressure wash your shed!

Have you pressure washed your shed lately? Most people have a pressure washer, and use it for sidewalks, car tires, and so on. The utility shed in your back yard could probably use a thorough cleaning too!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
A shed that needs to be pressure washed.

When pressure washing a shed, choose a good cleaning product. I keep bleach water in a separate bucket, not in the pressure washer tank. Bleach can destroy your pressure washer.

  2. Step 2
Pressure wash with a buddy for safety.

Place a ladder against your shed. Be sure you have someone with you whenever working on a ladder. Accidents happen when you are least prepared for one.

  3. Step 3
    Pressure wash from the top.

After you have connected your pressure washer to a power source and garden hose, climb the ladder and begin washing the roof of the shed. Many feel you should wash from the bottom up. Starting with the shed roof works best for me. Read my tips below.

  4. Step 4
Finished pressure washing? Be sure to rinse.

Once you have finished pressure washing the roof of your shed, begin the sides. After everything has been rinsed, double check for areas that were missed, or that need a scrub brush. This is where the second person comes in handy again. They can scrub areas that are still dirty while you are working on other areas.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use proper clothing to protect your eyes, hands, and skin from strong detergents.
  • Always have a second person with you.
  • A shed with shingles requires little pressure. Shingles were not designed to withstand the pressure you can use on metal, so use caution.
  • Electricity and water don't mix well. Exercise care when doing this.
  • Wear proper shoes.
  • Keep children, animals, and any unnecessary personnel away from the pressure washer.
