Use a Vision Board

A vision board is a motivational bulletin board that helps you visualize the life that you want to create for yourself. It works on the law of attraction which is the idea that what you focus most of your attention on is what you will attract to your life. Basically, you have to be able to visualize a new life for yourself before you can make it happen.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bulletin board
  • magazines
  • pictures
  • push pins
  • pens and pencils
  • scrap paper
  1. Step 1

To start, you can create two different kinds of vision boards. If you know exactly what you want for the future, you can create a board that addresses those wants. If you are unsure exactly what you want, you can make a board that helps to empower and uplift you while you search for your focus. Either board can be created using the supplies I have listed in the supply list.

  2. Step 2

When making your board, choose words and images that depict the type of life that you are hoping to create. If you want to have a family in the future, find pictures of happy families. If you want to be the boss at your job, find pictures of people excelling in their careers. Simply place images on the board that are indicative of a your future life. Also place words or phrases that complement those images. You could write "world traveler" if you wish to travel more often. You can cater it to fit your needs and the possibilities are endless.

  3. Step 3

Many people also like to write a check to themselves from the universe. You can use your scrap paper to draw a check and write it to yourself. I admit that this seems a little silly, but it is also fun. Who wouldn't want an enormous check from the universe? Make it out for however much you want to earn in the next year and post it on the board.

  4. Step 4

Finally, make sure that you place the board in an area of your house or apartment where you will see it daily. Looking at the board is almost like doing a daily affirmation. It helps you remember your goals and aspirations and then helps create a focus for achieving those goals. After all, thoughts with no action will not create a better life for yourself.
