Things You'll Need:
- Sunscreen
- Facial products
- Sunglasses
- Sunhat
- Antioxidant-rich diet
-
Step 1
Apply sunscreen on a daily basisWear sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection everyday, even if it’s cloudy outside. If you participate in outdoor activities, reapply the sunscreen every two hours or after swimming.
-
Step 2
Don’t smoke. Smoking can give a grayish appearance to the skin and cause deepening of fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes.
-
Step 3
Use facial products specific to your skin typeCleanse, tone and moisturize your face and neck every morning and evening using products appropriate for your skin type. If desired, use a suitable concealer or foundation base to cover up fine lines. Beware the foundation isn’t caked on, which may cause it to crack up, highlighting wrinkles even more. Always remove your make-up before getting into bed.
-
Step 4
Wear sunglasses and a sunhat to prevent your eyes from squintingWear sunglasses, a hat, or peaked cap to prevent your eyes from squinting in bright sunlight. If you squint your eyes when reading you may need to have your eyes checked by an optometrist. Relax your face throughout the day – this will help to reduce unsightly frown lines.
-
Step 5
Aim to drink 8 glasses of water per dayDrink enough water, aim for 8 glasses a day (1 glass = 8 oz = 250 ml). Get enough sleep, about 8 hours a night. Try and sleep on your back so you don’t press your face into the pillow, causing more wrinkling over time.
-
Step 6
Consume a diet rich in antioxidantsEat antioxidant rich foods such as berries, plums, spinach, broccoli, whole grains, and drink green tea. Exercise regularly.
-
Step 7
Expert facial careIf you can afford it, go for a facial on a regular basis. Your beautician will be able to provide you with advice specific for your skin type.
