Six simple ways to save money and help the environment.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use wood sticks instead of charcoal when grilling. Charcoal briquettes produce carcinogens when burned, pollutes the air and have been known to cause health problems. Start the fire with newspaper and a grill lighter.

  2. Step 2

Soap up your dishes with a soapy sponge, then rinse. Running the water while hand-washing dishes wastes energy.

  3. Step 3

Use coffee grounds as fertilizer. The nitrogen in them is good for the soil, and especially for acid-locing plants like tomatoes, blueberries, roses and azlaeas.

  4. Step 4

Use a mixture of oregano oil and lemon juice to relieve the itching from mosquito bites. Using chemicals to repel mosquitoes is bad for your health and the environment.

  5. Step 5

Make a handbag out of used plastic bags. Several people have already done this.

  6. Step 6

Turn off the lights and computers whn not in use. Leaving them on uneccesarily will save you money on your electric bill
