How to Deal with the Death of Your Mom

Death is one of the hardest challenges in life. Everyone handles death differently. When it's a friend that dies it's hard. When your friend is also your Mother it feels like the whole world comes crashing down. Your Mom that was always there to give you advice. Your Mom that was there as a confidant. Your Mom that used to make you your favorite foods. She's gone so what do we do now? How do we continue to live without her? How will life ever feel safe again?

Instructions

When you begin to grieve, there are 5 stages that you will go through denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Acceptance is the hardest one to get through. But you will be able to get there.

    • 2

If you feel like you are stuck in one stage, don't worry about it. Some people take longer to get through a stage. If for some reason it's been a very long time maybe you might want to think about talking to a counselor.

    • 3

Support groups are a great way to let you know that you are not alone. That there are other people out there who have lost someone as special as your Mom.

    • 4

Talk to your friends about the way you are feeling. They may be able to comfort you. It's important to keep living your life. Remember that your Mom would not want you to give up on life. She would want you to live it happily.

    • 5

Maybe writing in a journal or making a scrap book for your Mom would be a great grieving tool.

    • 6

As hard as it may be, when we loose someone so dearly it takes time. Allow yourself to go through each process and never let anyone tell you how you should act or feel. Each person is different in their grieving process.
