Step 1
Visit StumbleUpon.com. Near the top of the page, next to the large yellow "Sign Up Now" button, select, Get the Toolbar. While the site may give you the option to use a download-free toolbar, you'll want the downloadable one.
(If you're on a Mac, you'll need to be using Firefox, which you can download for free at Firefox.com) -
Step 2
Follow the instructions to download the toolbar. While it's downloading, go back to StumbleUpon's home page and sign up for an account. Sign up by clicking the "Start Here" link in the top right corner of the screen.
-
Step 3
Once you've signed up for an account, the download might ask you to restart your internet browser. Restart, and then return to StumbleUpon.com. A popup should appear asking you to log in -- go ahead and do so. If it doesn't, click the "Start Stumbling" button on your new StumbleUpon toolbar and log in from there.
-
Step 4
Now you should be able to visit any website and have the blue, thumbs-up sign on your toolbar. Visit one of your eHow articles and click that little thumbs-up, which should say, "I like it!"
A popup will come up asking you to verify some letters (to make sure you aren't a robot). Type them in and click "Verify". Depending on your browser, it may also ask you to categorize the website or write a description. Do so. Finally, it will ask you if your article is safe for work -- click "Yes, Submit." -
Step 5
Congratulations! You've added your eHow article to StumbleUpon. Now it will recommend the article it to other StumbleUpon users, who will click on it and increase your views.
Go ahead and add some more articles to StumbleUpon, and watch the views roll in!

on 9/7/2009 StumbleUpon is a cool way to get more eHow views. Thanks for the heads-up.

on 9/5/2009 @hiptoknit -- I'm pretty certain it is, the same way people use "Digg" to promote their articles. I found nothing against it in the Terms of Service. All the site does is link others to the article, the same as if you mentioned your eHow article in a blog post :)
