If you are an independent band or a touring band then most of your time will be spent touring and building a fan base. One item that many new and even veteran bands over look is the importance of crafting an engaging setlist. Read on to learn how to make a band set list.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Band
  • Live Shows
  • Songs
  1. Step 1

The first step in creating a band set list is to narrow down your catalog of songs to the songs that you will play live. Most often these songs will consist of new songs or songs off a recent album that you are coincidentally trying to sell.

  2. Step 2

Next, you need to put yourself in the mind of a fan. While you may be tired of playing your "hit song" your fans will want to hear it at every show. Remember that you are playing for the fans.

  3. Step 3

Then you can start to craft your band set list. Gather all band members and allow every one to have an opinion. Have each member write down their ideal set list and start from there.

  4. Step 4

After that you should compare set lists. If you all have the same set lists you are set. If not, try to book end your best songs. Always try to keep your sets short and leave your fans wanting more.
