Step 1
Purchase a duvet:
The first thing that you should do is to purchase a duvet for your down comforter. A duvet is a little like a large pillow case to cover and protect your comforter. And you will quickly find that it's much easier to clean a duvet than a comforter. -
Step 2
Cleaning a down comforter:
Since you're using a duvet cover for your down comforter you will find that you really won't need to clean the comforter all that often. But when you do want to clean your down bedding just pick up some Dryell sheets and toss it in the dryer. -
Step 3
Washing a down comforter:
Your down comforter will last a lot longer if you don't wash it all that often. But once a year of so you're probably going to want to wash it. Just be sure to use cold water with a small amount of mild detergent. Also don't use any fabric softener. -
Step 4
Drying your down comforter:
Be sure to set the dryer on low heat and throw in a clean tennis shoe or a couple of tennis balls to help fluff your down bedding. -
Step 5
Fluff your down comforter:
Every now and then you should remove the duvet cover and fluff your down comforter. Hanging it out on the clothesline is also a great way to freshen up your down bedding.
