Step 1
Increase your combat, mining, smithing, crafting, cooking, magic and woodcutting skills. If you're a RuneScape member, work on your fletching, agility, thieving, slayer and hunter skills.
-
Step 2
Collect valuable items around RuneScape and deposit them in your bank account. The items that are worth the most gold include unicorn horns, gold ore, rubies, emeralds, diamonds, dragonstone, certain seeds and herbs, earth and fire talismans, law runes, nature runes, two-handed swords and square shields. These items are dropped by monsters during combat, and some can be mined. While you're exploring RuneScape, open a new browser tab or window and navigate to the RuneScape Grand Exchange database page to check the prices in gold before you place items in your inventory. You can also check prices by clicking the helmet icon in your RuneScape interface, clicking the bag with the dollar sign, then clicking an item in your inventory.
-
Step 3
Make items to sell for gold. Smith valuable armor, weapons, nails and bolts. Craft items such as snakeskin and dragonskin armor from skins you collected during combat. Cook items such as pies and pizzas to sell for gold. Cut wood into planks before selling it for gold. Fletch valuable items such as high-level crossbows, bows, arrows and bolts. Use your magic skill to enchant crossbow bolts before selling them.
-
Step 4
Complete the RuneScape quests which offer gold as a reward. If you're just getting started, complete the novice level quests. The All Fired Up quest provides 20,000 gold pieces as a reward. Hazeel Cult offers 2,000 gold pieces. When your skill in RuneScape increases, complete Olaf's Quest, which will reward you with 20,000 gold pieces and 3 rubies.
-
Step 5
Collect or make items that are worth a million gold pieces or more. The Amulet of Ranging, worth about 1.4 million gold pieces, is dropped by monsters in the Fremmenik Slayer Dungeon. You can get a master wand, which sells for about 1.5 million, by exchanging pizazz points in the Mage Training Arena. If your slayer level is 85 or above, fight Abyssal demons which drop Abyssal whips worth 2.6 million gold pieces. Complete RuneScape treasure trails using clue scrolls to find other items worth millions of gold pieces. If you have a very high combat level, complete the Barrows minigame to find even more items worth millions of gold pieces. If you play the Mage Training Arena minigame, you may receive a Mage's Book worth 4.7 million gold pieces as a reward.
-
Step 6
Visit the RuneScape Grand Exchange in northwest Varrock to sell your items for gold. You'll reach a million gold pieces faster if you sell ores unsmithed, gems uncut and herbs uncleaned. To make a faster sale, offer your items for the lowest price. The items may sell for more gold than what you offered them for if the buyer makes a higher offer. If you sell items such as dragonhide armor, steel bars, ranarr weed and seeds and rune armor, weapons and shields, you'll make millions of gold pieces very quickly. However, you can get a quarter to half a million gold by selling lower value items such as arrows, ores, runes and bolts.
-
Step 7
Start playing the RuneScape Grand Exchange market when you get 50,000 gold pieces or more stored in your RuneScape bank account. This is called merchanting. Check the 30, 90 and 180 day history of a high-demand item such as coal, iron or gold ore, runes, crossbow bolts and arrows in the RuneScape Grand Exchange Database. Wait for the price to reach a low point, then purchase several hundred or thousand of the items. Hold onto them until the price increases, then resell them at a huge profit.
