Asparagus is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidents. The problem is that most people do not know how to cook asparagus. Cooking asparagus is simple when you know how

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Asparagus
  • Knife
  • Vegetable Peeler
  • Rectangular Dish
  • 1-tablespoon water
  • Bowl
  • Microwave
  • Lemon Juice
  1. Step 1

Wash an asparagus bunch. Make sure to clean them good and get off any dirt.

  2. Step 2

Trim 1/3 of the asparagus from the stalk end using a paring knife. This will remove the harder stalk from the more tender part. A good way of measuring this is to bend about 1/3 up until it bends easily

  3. Step 3

Peel the stalk with a vegetable peeler to the same size as the tip. Doing this will make sure that the asparagus cooks evenly.

  4. Step 4

Place the asparagus in a microwave safe small rectangular dish. The asparagus can be loosely stacked two or three deep. Add 1-tablespoon of water to the dish.

  5. Step 5

Cover the dish with plastic wrap, leaving a small corner open. This will allow the steam to vent out.

  6. Step 6

Cook the asparagus in the microwave about 2 1/2 minutes on high.

  7. Step 7

Remove from the microwave and sprinkle with lemon juice.

Tips & Warnings
  • If serving the asparagus cold, quickly chill in ice to preserve their color and taste.
