Twitter is a service for creating SMS (Short Message Service) and was designed as such. Therefore, using Twitter and your smart phone go hand in hand. As long as your Cell Phone Provider has a reasonable texting plan you can work with Twitter on your cell. If you are going to use Twitter with your mobile phone it is best to pay a flat monthly rate for texting.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Of course you will need to setup your free Twitter account and you will need a text plan from your cell phone provider. Trying to utilize Tweets without a texting plan, and you get hooked, you're asking for major trouble, unless you can afford the rates from your provider, and even if you can, the smart, sensible thing to do is to cut your cost anywhere you can.

  2. Step 2

Activate your phone in your Twitter account. Sign-in, click settings, click the device tab and type your cell phone number in the text box and save.

Select the box that shows "it's ok for Twitter to send text messages to my phone."

Click save and Twitter will display a code that you will need to text to your local Twitter number.

  3. Step 3

From your cell phone, dial the Twitter local number that is provided and enter the code and send.

In a couple of minutes Twitter will respond to your text message and your phone is now tweet-ready.
