Things You'll Need:
- a wire clothes hanger
- pliers
- two lengths of silver garland
- very thin (jewelry-making) wire OR twist-ties OR string.
- a mini string of battery-operated holly-berry lights (available at a craft or dollar store)
- green metallic wrapping paper (I used the metallic plastic type)
- a roll of metal tape for ductwork
- miniature ball ornaments
-
Step 1
First, make your form. Pull the clothes hanger into as perfect a circle as you can. Use pliers to close the hook into a small circle, then bend it down (so it that it is aimed toward the center of the circle.)
-
Step 2
Secure an end of one of the strands of garland to the circle using wire, twist ties or string, then wrap the garland around (and around and around) the coat hanger circle. Secure the other end to the circle, again using wire, twist ties or string. Repeat with the second garland. (If the garland you bought is longer or thicker than mine was, you may only need one strand.) Secure the end.
-
Step 3
Use wire or twist ties to secure the battery-holder behind the wreath, then string the lights around the circle. Hold in place with wire, twist ties or string.
-
Step 4
Spread out a sheet of your metallic green wrapping material.(The foil should be green on both sides. If it isn't, turn the green side face down for this step.) Cut a dozen pieces of wire 3" long and lay them side-by-side in a line on the foil about an inch apart. (These will be the stems of your holly leaves.)
Cut a foot of the metal tape from the roll, remove the backing paper, and stick to the green foil in such a way that half of the pieces of the wire are sticking out from below the tape. Cut out the holly leaves and use the wire stems to affix them to your wreath. Add mini ornaments and voila! You have a wreath to match your tree!
