Making homemade spaghetti sauce is delicious but can be quite time consuming. However, there is a way to make semi-homemade sauce that tastes just as great as the real thing. You will need 2 cans tomato paste, 1 bottle of a store brand seasoned tomato sauce, ¼ cup olive oil, ½ cup red wine, ¼ cup of chopped garlic, ¼ cup oregano, 2 bay leaves, and fresh parsley.

  2. Step 2
    Fresh Parsley

In large cooking pot add tomato sauce, tomato paste, and appropriate amounts of water to thin out paste. Next, add garlic, wine, oregano, and bay leaf. Under a very low heat simmer sauce with lid on for approximately 6-7 hours. Many times I leave my sauce on the stove over night.

  3. Step 3
    Garlic

Finally, you can add meatballs to sauce about 3-4 hours before serving. Meatballs are delicious after cooked in the sauce. Make sure you don't add parsley to sauce until sauce is finished cooking. Fresh parsley can easily become overcooked when adding it to your sauce. Enjoy!!

Tips & Warnings
  • make sure you occasionally stir sauce while simmering. Tomato sauce can easily stick and burn even at a low temperature.
  • Remember to remove bay leaves befoe serving sauce.
