First, let me say you should never write your password down on anything. But you can write clues to help you remember your password.

Open your Outlook email editor. Look for a "Notes" icon on the left sidebar. This icon looks like the yellow Post-it notes you find in offices. Select the icon to open the "Notes" application. Select "New" from the Outlook command bar to open a "note."

This "note" works just like a word processor. You can write on it and save it. For example, you could write the name of a program that you access with a username and the password. Then write clues for your username and password. Try to think of clues that would be hard for others to guess if they were to discover your notes. Then save the note.

The next time you have trouble remebering a password, just open your mail editor and refer to your clues in your notes. This way even if you don't remember your password you know where to get it.

Tips & Warnings

  • I used MicroSoft Outlook in this example but any mail editor with the "Notes" application will work.
