To remove rust stains naturally you can use products you have in your kitchen. Rust removal doesn't always require toxic commercial rust removers. Some household objects are effective in getting rid of small amounts of rust. The secret is to removie rust as soon as you see it. Small rust stains are manageable, but if you don't treat the rust quickly it will only get larger and more difficult to clean. Of course the best thing is to try to prevent rust from forming in the first place. Rust happens when you keep metal objects (appliances, power tools, etc.) near water or damp or moist areas. If things get wet, dry them immediately, instead of waiting for them to air dry.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use steel wool. To get off rust stains naturally try to rub it off with a steel wool pad. A kitchen scrubbing pad also works. Look for something with an abrasive texture to scrap the rust off. If need be you can add mineral oil to the rust stains. Then use the steel wool to remove the rust.

  2. Step 2

Use lemon juice. Acids are known to work on rust stains. The acid is able to change the chemical composition of rust and make it easier to clean. Lemon juice has citric acid. Apply bottled lemon juice to the rust stain. Wait a few minutes than wipe clean with a damp sponge.

  3. Step 3

Use vinegar. Use apple cider vinegar or white vinegar to remove rust stains naturally. All vinegars have ascetic acid. Apply vinegar to rust, leave on for a short time and then wipe with a damp cloth or sponge.
