Running would be an extremely basic and inexpensive sport if it weren't for the high cost of running shoes. For avid runners, high-quality running shoes are a definite necessity. Old and worn running shoes increase the chance of injury. In my opinion, everyone should be able to get affordable, high-quality running shoes. So, I'll let you in on a little secret: DSW.

1. Find your nearest DSW (Discount Shoe Warehouse). If you're male, swallow your pride and pretend you're finding a birthday present for your girlfriend.

2. Walk to the back of the store, to the clearance aisles. Find your size, and look for a quality running shoe. There's almost always a few of them lying around, and if not, check back again the following week. I am under the impression that DSW doesn't know that running shoes never go out of style. As long as you don't mind going for your morning jaunt in last year's running shoes, you'll find some awesome deals.

3. If you're worried about finding the "right" shoe for you, first go to a specialty running store and get fitted, but don't buy anything. Then go to DSW and get the shoe that was recommended to you, or something close to it
