You've gone to great lengths purchasing your iTunes, downloading them onto your iPod Touch and building the perfect music library. Back that baby up onto your computer just in case something happens to your iPod Touch or you upgrade to a newer device.

Instructions

  1. Authorize Your Computer

      Turn on your computer and open your iTunes program once the computer is fully booted up.

      Select the "Store" menu and click on "Authorize Computer."

      Leave the Apple ID button selected unless you sign into iTunes with an AOL account; if so, select "AOL."

      Type in your user name and password and click "Authorize."

    Transfer iTunes

      Connect your iPod Touch to your computer using its USB cable.

      Select the "Transfer Purchases" button from the pop-up box if your iPod Touch is already synced to your iTunes library.

      Click the "File" menu and select "Transfer Purchases from [your iPod Touch name]" if the prompt box does not pop up when you plug your iPod into your computer.

      Allow iTunes to copy the music from your iPod Touch onto your computer.

      Disconnect your iPod Touch properly.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must authorize all of your iTunes accounts to your computer if you have multiple accounts; otherwise, all of your music will not copy over.

  • The only drawback to this free program is you can only transfer one song at a time. Be prepare to sit in front of your pc for several hours. At least it saves your songs from being lost and having to repurchase them.
