One of the most important pieces in any woman's wardrobe is a bra that fits correctly and feels comfortable. Without a good-quality bra it can be difficult to find clothing that fits and it can be very uncomfortable to the wearer. Most women do not wear correct-fitting bras. However for women with D-size cups or larger, it can be even more difficult to find a quality bra. This guide will give you some tips on how to find large cup bras.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be sure to get a fitting from more than one bra fit specialist at different stores. Two or three different opinions are fine. Make sure the stores you go to offers bras in larger cups before asking for a fitting. Nordstrom and other high end department stores often have a large selection. If the store doesn't offer larger size cups, the fit specialist might tell you that you are a cup size they do offer, not your actual size.

  2. Step 2

During your first few fittings, do not be concerned with the price. You don't have to buy anything this time around. The goal here is to try as many bras as you can. This way you can learn what is a good fit and what is not. Try different brands because not all brands are created equal. If you find a brand that fits well and feels comfortable in your size, make a note of it for the future.

  3. Step 3

When you are ready to shop for new bras, go to stores that hold large cup sizes. Some well known brands for D cups and larger are Natori, Wacoal, Calvin Klein, and DKNY. You can frequently save money by looking at the bra sales rack of high end department stores. These sales racks are often separated by cup sizes, making the process easier.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's better to spend more money on one higher quality bra that is comfortable and fits than it is to buy 2 or 3 cheap bras that aren't supportive.
  • Supportive bras are sturdy. The cups are not flimsy. The band does not ride up your back and sits close to your chest under your breasts. The straps are wide enough and don't dig into your shoulder.
  • Supportive everyday bras can be nice looking. You just have to look a littler harder.
  • Remember to check the sales rack of higher end stores to save on high-quality bras.
  • Be sure to rotate your bras so you are not wearing the same bra everyday. This helps your bra last longer.
  • When you first buy a bra, you should be able to attach the back to the last hook and adjust it over time as the bra becomes stretched.
  • Bras that hook in the front are not the best choices for big chested women.
  • Be wary of large chain bra stores like Victoria's Secret and Gap Body because they do not typically hold support bras for women with large breasts. If you're going to spend $40 or more on an everyday bra, it should fit.
