Lie down on your back and cross your arms across your chest to ride your longboard like a coffin.

Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Crouch low on your board, three quarters of the way up to the nose.

  2. Step 2

Lean back and put your hands down behind you in the middle of the board to support your weight. Keep your hands centered and balanced, so not to tip over your board.

  3. Step 3

Sit down on your board with your legs extended toward the nose.

  4. Step 4

Lie back on your board in a reclined position.

  5. Step 5

Cross your arms across your chest, touching your fingers to your shoulders - like Dracula in his coffin. Hold this position for a few seconds.

  6. Step 6

Sit up and put your hands back on the center of the board behind you.

  7. Step 7

Pull your feet back under you and push yourself back into your crouched position, still riding the wave.

Tips & Warnings
  • The bigger your longboard is, the easier this trick will be.
  • The "coffin" position is fairly stable as long as you are relaxed. The balancing aspect of this trick is actually getting up and down.
  • Be aware of what is ahead of you when you do this trick. Once you're on your back you have no control over your board.
  • Surfboarding is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.

on 11/22/2005 As you sit down, grab the board and steer, creating what is called "luge." You can do this to steer while trying the coffin trick.
