Birthday Card

Everyone loves to receive birthday cards to mark birthdays. Instead of sending common cards made and written by someone else, consider making your own birthday cards for friends and family. Receiving a handmade birthday card is a special touch that tells the recipient that you cared enough to create a card especially for him or her. With the extensive selection of scrapbooking materials available today, even children can make beautiful birthday cards to give to their favorite person.

  • Scrapbooking die-cuts (shapes and letters)

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the card-stock in half lengthwise to create a large folded card. Run the paper boner down the fold to crease it sharply.

    • 2

Choose die-cut letters to spell out "Happy Birthday" and arrange them as desired across the front of the card. Add the recipient's name in letters also if you wish. Glue the die-cut letters onto the card to secure them in place.

    • 3

Add a die-cut shape to make a birthday cake, a candle, a specific number or another card decoration under the letters. Layer several die-cuts into a stack to give the card dimension. Glue the die-cut shapes in the desired place on the card.

    • 4

Add a ribbon border across the top and bottom of the front of the card; glue it into place.

    • 5

Open the card and write a personal message on the right side of the inner card. Write a birthday wish and happy sentiments to communicate your birthday message. Use different colored gel pens and your best handwriting to make the card look attractive.

    • 6

Add other scrapbooking embellishments to the other side of the card. Glue more die cuts, ribbons, or even a photo framed with card stock to the left side of the card.

    • 7

Sign your name at the bottom on the right side of the card and allow any glue and ink to dry completely before you close the card.
