Step 1
Getting Started
To start you will need to register with an online stock broker. You can find a short list of the most popular online trading websites in my resources section towards the bottom of the page. You can also read reviews on such websites by logging on to sites such as stocktradingtogo.com.
Note: Before signing up with any online stock brokerage be sure to read the terms and review the details on any fees you may incur though making a trade. -
Step 2
Fund Your Account
Once you are signed up with an online stock trading website. You will need to fund your account. The most common funding options include; Credit Card, Bank Transfers, and Paypal. The amount that you fund you account with should be relative to your average investment per stock and your overall stock portfolio. Some online stock trading sites require a minimum balance, check with your particular online brokerage for their terms on minimum balances. -
Step 3
Purchase Stocks
Upon funding your account, you are ready to start purchasing stocks. Browse around though the different types of stocks offered and read the charts/details provided. Search the internet for stock tips and companies that are "on the move". If you are new to stock trading, be sure to read up on how to read charts and analyze graphs. -
Step 4
Build Your Portfolio
Once you are in the groove of finding and purchasing stocks online, build up your portfolio. Be sure that your portfolio has a wide array different types of stock (diversify), i.e. energy stocks, pharmaceutical stocks,technology, etc. Stock diversification is an important key to building a strong portfolio.
