Things You'll Need:
- Boston street/tourism map
- Boston public transit passes
- Casual clothing
- Comfortable shoes
-
Step 1
Ditch the car and embrace the spirit of planet friendliness that the Boston Children's Museum exudes. Guests in the Greater Boston area can easily and inexpensively reach the museum via public trains, buses, subways or boats. The city takes great pride in shuttling visitors to and from Logan Airport as efficiently as possible.
-
Step 2
Take a "divide and multiply" approach to your family's visit to the Boston Children's Museum. Take advantage of the fact that its location (300 Congress Street) is within walking or easy mass transit distance to the Adams National Historic Park, the Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum and other well-known attractions.
-
Step 3
Mention the museum while making reservations. Nearby hotels and dining destinations, as well as the Boston Public Library regularly offer special discounts to patrons of the Boston Children's Museum; advance notice and proof of attendance may be required. Groups should contact the museum at (617) 426-6500 to inquire about preferred rates.
-
Step 4
Prepare to play along: the Boston Children's Museum encourages the young and old to interact with exhibits that require varying levels of exertion. The museum places a premium on health and fitness education, as well as instruction on cross-cultural interaction, environmental responsibility and scientific exploration.
-
Step 5
Don't schedule a museum trip for the fall/winter holidays. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas and does not open until noon on New Year's Day. Otherwise, the Boston Children's Museum is open to the public seven days a week (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) with special membership hours from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays.
