How to Get Bugs off your Plants

There are many home remedies that can be used to cure your plants from bugs with household products and no harsh chemicals. These remedies work on any plant ranging from common house plants, to tomato plants, to Sago Palms. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Cut off the diseased part of the plant. Any portion of the leaves that has turned brown. Don't cut off any green leaves. The plant will still use all the nutrients in the green leaves, even if its only half a leaf.

      Dilute dish soap with water. Pour this mixture on the plant. If the plant is in the ground, rather than a potted plant, then you can also pour the solution on the grass around the plant.

      Sprinkle coffee grinds on the soil of your plant a few days to a couple of weeks after your use the dish soap.

      Put coffee grinds and water into a spray bottle. Spray the leaves with this mixture. This works especially well on palms such as Sago Palms. Palms tend to get Asian Scale. Asian Scale is white and looks like snow or cotton on the bottom of the leaves.

      Be patient. Let the plant grow. Repeat the steps above if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the dish soap sparingly. You don't need a lot of soap to make this work, your mixture shouldn't be very bubbly.

  • Palms love coffee grinds and bugs hate coffee grinds!
