How to Identify Kohler Toilets

Save

For more than a century, Kohler Company has provided a wide assortment of residential and commercial products, including toilets, to consumers. Kohler toilets, no matter their age, have clear and identifiable marks that help consumers to know if they own a Kohler and the specific model type of the toilet in question. Kohler Company further makes this process easy by providing online model information and parts resources.

  • Lift the seat of your one- or two-piece Kohler toilet and check between the toilet seat hinges for the stamped "Kohler" name on new models or a double-stamped letter "K" in blue enamel on older models.

  • Remove the lid of your toilet tank and check the inside of the tank for the Kohler model number. The model number always consists of four numbers beginning with a "3" or "4" and may or may not have a letter "K" preceding it. In some cases, additional model identifiers follow the main number (for example, K-3385-AA). Keep in mind, older model Kohler toilets have the model number embossed directly into the vitreous china, while new models have a water-resistant ink stamp.

  • Write down the model number and replace the toilet tank lid.

  • Go to the Kohler website at us.kohler.com to learn more about your model. Type the four-digits of the model number (for example, instead of K-3385-AA, type 3385 only) into the "Search" field, click the "Go" button and a search results page will open. Click on the red "See Product Details" link below the model name to read about your model (installation instructions, parts history, etc.) using the blue PDF links at the bottom of the page.

  • Visit Kohler Service Parts (see Resources) for additional parts information or to order parts. Click on the "In the Bathroom" image. On the page that opens, click on the "Toilets" image to go to the parts page that utilizes drop-down menus of model features to find parts.
