How to Configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to Receive Gmail

GMail, Google Inc.'s email application, is most commonly accessed through its web-based application. But it can be configured so that you can bypass the website and access GMail directly through Microsoft Outlook 2007.

      Log into your GMail account through your Web browser.

      Click on the "Settings" link at the top right of the page.

      Click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.

      Click on "Enable POP for all mail" or "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on."

      Choose the setting you prefer in the "When messages are accessed with POP" dropdown box.

      Click on "Save Changes."

    Outlook 2007 Settings

      Open Outlook 2007.

      Click on "Account Settings" in the "Tools" menu.

      Click on the "E-mail" tab and click "New."

      Enter your name and GMail address and password on the "Auto Account Setup" page and click "Next."

      Click "Finish" to complete the setup.
