Things You'll Need:
- plastic beads in different colors
- save your corks from wine and champagne bottles
- fishing line
- drill
-
Step 1
Save all of your corks from wine and champagne bottles. Ask your family and friends to save all of their corks for you as well, and if you receive enough, you can make them a beautiful Mardi Gras bead necklace too! You can also ask a caterer or a friend throwing a New Year's Eve party to save corks for you.
-
Step 2
beadsBuy some beads online or at a craft store. You can choose Mardi Gras colors – purple, yellow, and green, or choose your favorite colors.
-
Step 3
Get some fishing line. Although you can use other material to string your Mardi Gras bead necklace, fishing line is both inexpensive and durable.
-
Step 4
hole in corkDrill holes in every cork. You want the holes to go all the way through the cork, top to bottom, and be no larger than 1/8”.
-
Step 5
beads between corksYou are ready to create your Mardi Gras masterpiece! Measure the fishing line around your neck and cut the line a little longer than the length you would like for your Mardi Gras bead necklace. String the beads and corks on the line. Be creative. You will probably want to put about 5 beads between each cork and make sure you put plenty of beads around the neckline so that the Mardi Gras necklace is comfortable to wear.
-
Step 6
Mardi Gras bead necklaceNow put on your one-of-a-kind, fabulous, Mardi Gras bead necklace and get ready to 'Laissez les bon temps roulez,' or let the good times roll!
