Balance: This is all about the lower half of your body. You want to bend your knees so your momentum comes from your legs, but the big thing bending your knees does is it balances your upper body. Also, make sure your shoulders are square to the basket, you don't want to fade forward or away when your shooting a fundamental jump shot.

  3. Step 3

Eyes: Keep your eyes on the rim and focus where your shooting. Pick a spot to aim for, like the square on the glass or the rim. Either way aim for the hoop.

  4. Step 4

Elbow: When you shoot your elbow should be at a 90 degree angle. In other words your elbow should be perpendicular to your body. This form helps the ball stay on line, and helps add proper backspin to the ball.

  5. Step 5

Follow through: When you release the ball, keep your hand up. Your wrist should be reaching out to the hoop. Pretend like your putting your hand in the hoop, or that's what it should look like form your stand point.
