To keep a golden retrievers coat looking good can be confusing, but I will share some tips for grooming a golden retriever. If you have any other advice or I left something out please let me know.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Oatmeal Shampoo
  • Comb
  • Shedding Comb
  • Flea Medicine
  1. Step 1

The most important step is to wash your dog at least once a week. Washing more than once a week might dry out their skin. Only use a oatmeal shampoo and this keeps their skin from drying out. Really scrub their coat. I use a regular comb with the soap to really get them clean. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

  2. Step 2

Now it's time to comb their coat with the shedding comb. This well help keep them from shedding as much and also make the coat look and feel better. You can start anywhere but you need to run your hand against the their hair to lift it up and start at the bottom with the comb and work your way up. This is needed because they have undercoats that don't get combed well by simply brushing them. Remember to get their whole coats.

  3. Step 3

Lastly apply flea medicine to keep them from being itchy and some are allergic to fleas and the flea bits can cause them to have irritated skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to do this at least once a week to keep them looking and feeling good.
