Step 1
Consider finding apartment close to your work place.
-
Step 2
Google with term 'apartment for rent', 'rent'. You will get a list of websites. Some websites give you money back.
-
Step 3
Search and compare the features the complex offer. For example, pet friendly, pool, amenities, 2 bed, 1 bed, 2 bath, etc.
-
Step 4
Ask a friend to refer you. Your friends will get reference bonus. Some place offers up to $500 bonus
-
Step 5
Check the contract term. Most complexes require 6 month term or 12 month term. Some also offer month to month with higher rent.
-
Step 6
You might want a complex with entrance gate if you have kids. It's more secure since your kids like to play running around.
-
Step 7
Some complexes require you to buy rental insurance. Check the crime rate or ask about that before making decision. I would buy it since it costs only $100+ per year. You can also get 15% discount on your auto insurance if you combine them. It's not much but give you peace on mind.
-
Step 8
When moving in, make sure you inspect the apartment and ask the leasing office to fix anything broken.
Good luck!
