Step 1
Clean out the clutter.
Organize closet space with things that you actually wear, and remove items that you don't get any use from. Either give them to charity or have a yard sale.
This includes clothes, shoes, belts, purses, and other accessories that are just lying around. -
Step 2
Hang clothes on slim line hangers.
Slimline hangers help to maximize space, because they save room on the hanging rod. Slimlines also help clothes to stay on hangers. There's nothing more aggravating than hanging up clothes, only to have them fall off the hanger in the closet.
Place all hanging clothes on slimline hangers, to save additional rod space and keep clothes on the hangers. -
Step 3
Separate clothes by season.
Store off season clothes. Keep clothes for the current season in your closet. As the seasons change, switch your clothes out. -
Step 4
Storage bins organize closet accessories, such as purses and belts.Store purses and belts in storage bins on the closet floor. Most women have a lot of purses and belts, with no where to store them.
Use a storage bin with the plastic pull out drawers. This way, you can change out purses with no trouble. -
Step 5
Use the door to organize closet space.Place shoes in an over the door shoe caddy. Although this only stores 10-15 pair, at most, it keeps the shoes that you wear only a daily basis at hand. Most of us wear only 4 to 5 pair of shoes on a regular basis, anyway.
By using the door, you can organize closet space for even the smallest closets.
